In conclusion, it is evident that there are numerous benefits of leisure that led to the social good of the community. The paper has identified five core benefits of leisure including economic, physiological, environmental, psychological and social benefits. It is evident that these benefits are observed at both the individual and societal level. In addition, it is evident that these benefits are feasible in the modern society. The paper also affirmed that the benefits gained from leisure activities are probably equal and may surpass the benefits attained from other public utilities like fire protection, sanitation, transportation, educational, and housing services. However, this social good has been appreciated and promoted by only a few government units. Government programs usually allocate more resources on other public services, yet fail to recognize the contributions of leisure to the larger society. In order to reap the benefits of leisure, there is the need to the government, at all levels, to identify and acknowledge the value of leisure and allocate appropriate resources towards promoting leisure opportunities in the community. In addition, there is the need to sensitize the public on the benefits of participating in leisure activities. The government must award leisure the same parity it gives other public services; achieving this requires the need to integrate the benefits of leisure in the principles of public management and finance.

All said and done, however, it cannot be denied that stress forms a vital and inseparable part of our daily lives . Many of us drown in the face of stress and try to cope with it all with alcohol, tobacco, and drugs. Many of us become self destructive. However, it is important to understand that while some of these things may provide us monetary relief by wiping out sentience, they are not permanent solutions to the problem. If we want to continue living, we must take stress every now and then. The most effective way of dealing with modern life is to understand how to live life so that stress affects us least, and, more importantly, how to ensure we do not face much stress despite living a productive and functional life.

Stress, we all struggle with it. We know it can shorten our lives, age us too early, make us miserable and unhealthy- yet we cannot seem to getaway it. I would like to begin my paper with a little description of myself. After spending years of training for a career in accounting, I truly had no idea about science. Even though I have been trying to live healthy by eating the right food and doing regular exercise, I had no idea how much damage stress has been causing me both physically and mentally. I find this class to be one of the biggest wake up calls in my life. After taking this class, I realized that I tend to have excessive ACG and BC activity problems; I experience physical stress symptoms all the time, I worry too much about the future, I get stuck on negative thoughts, and I have a intense dislike for change. Here is a short report of what my typical day looked like before I started the stress management technique for this class.


Stress is something that I believed was a normal part of life. Although I did not intentionally choose to be stressed, I was unaware that I had a choice in how I react to situations. However, by taking this class I was not only able to become conscious of this process, but also how to change my lifestyle. I used to think that I was a happy person, I truly did not realize what real happiness was until I practiced stress management for this class. The stress management technique that I used for my assignment was breathing and relaxation. I started my first breathing exercises with complete breath where I imagine a bottle lying internally beneath the point at my hands are resting. I imagined that the air was entering through my nose and descending to fill the internal bottle, and slowly bega...

... find everything to be brighter, shinier, and lovelier than normal. Now I love practicing meditation more than ever because it allows me to see things better than they actually are and, most importantly, I see people to be more delightful as well. I try to hold onto this calmness after every meditation, and take this moveable paradise to my home, commute, school, and everywhere I go.
This class was a retreat for me; I've changed the way I eat; changed my self-esteem; changed the way I feel & look; changed my outlook on life; changed my thought patterns, emotional responses and processes on the way I live my life.
Just to give you an idea how my behavior has changed on how I think and interact with people and events in my life, I would like to give you a record of my typical day after starting the living lab experiment. It is amazing how far it has taken me.

Stress affects us all in different ways, not all of which are negative. (In fact, the stress of an exciting life can actually serve as a good motivator and keep things interesting.) When stress levels get too intense, however, there are some stress symptoms that many people experience. For example, headaches, irritability, and ‘fuzzy thinking’ can all be symptoms that you’re under too much stress. While not everybody who’s under stress will experience these specific symptoms, many will.
